Fes to Marrakech Desert tour 3 Days

Your 3 Days desert tour begins with an early pickup from your accommodation in Fes, heading south toward the Middle Atlas Mountains. The landscape quickly changes as you reach Ifrane, known for its alpine-style architecture and clean mountain air. Continuing through the forests, you stop in the Cedar Forest, home to ancient cedar trees and wild Barbary macaques roaming freely. The journey continues across open plateaus toward Zaida and Midelt, where the climate becomes drier and the scenery more rugged.

After lunch in Midelt, you travel through the spectacular Ziz Valley, lined with thousands of palm trees and traditional ksour villages. By late afternoon, you arrive in the Merzouga Desert, where the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi rise dramatically from the desert floor. As the sun begins to set, you enjoy a camel trek across the dunes before reaching your desert camp, where dinner and a peaceful night under the stars await.

After an early wake-up to watch the sunrise over the dunes, you return from the desert and continue toward the historic town of Rissani, once a major trading center and still home to a lively traditional market. Here, locals gather to trade dates, spices, livestock, and handmade goods, offering a raw and authentic glimpse into southern Moroccan life. Leaving Rissani, the road leads through arid landscapes and scattered villages until you reach the impressive Todra Gorges, where towering limestone cliffs rise dramatically on both sides of a narrow river corridor.

You’ll have time to walk through the gorge, take photos, and enjoy lunch nearby. In the afternoon, the journey continues toward the Dades Valley, passing winding roads and striking rock formations before arriving in Boumalne Dades, where you settle into your hotel or riad for the night, surrounded by dramatic mountain scenery.

Following breakfast, you depart Boumalne Dades and drive through the scenic Rose Valley, famous for its rose fields and fragrant products, especially during springtime. The route continues toward Ouarzazate, often called the gateway to the Sahara and known for its cinematic landscapes. A short drive brings you to the iconic Ait Ben Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Morocco’s best-preserved earthen villages.

After exploring the kasbah and enjoying lunch nearby, you begin the final leg of the journey, crossing the High Atlas Mountains via the Tizi n’Tichka Pass, offering panoramic views of valleys and remote Berber villages. By late afternoon or early evening, you arrive in Marrakech, where your desert adventure comes to an end with drop-off at your accommodation.
